Our Local Heroes

Honoring our Local Fallen Heroes is part of who we are at Post 1534.  Our heroes are never forgotten.  At the local level, Post 1534 is dedicated to providing our troops and their families with the support they need during all phases of deployment.  Post 1534 members understand first-hand the burdens of deployment, and that's why we are here to support and assist our troops in any way we possibly can!

A Special Invitation from Marge Snell

My husband was a WWII 101st Airborne Paratrooper and jumped from a C-47 in Normandy, Holland's Market Garden Battle, and went by truck to Bastogne, Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart, with two Oak Leaf Clusters for injuries in each battle. He also has the Bronze Star and Presidential Unit Citation and the Legion of Honor from France.

It brought me to tears when the WWII Air Museum called that they are going to do a FLY-OVER in their C-47 (like the plane Russ jumped out of), the VFW Post 1534 Post Commander Jeff Horton with the Cathedral City ROTC is doing a FLAG CEREMONY AND PRESENTATION. I believe he has a bugle player and possible bagpipe player, too.

Following the ceremony around the flagpole, there will be a brief program about his life, memorabilia, keepsake gift table and a light luncheon.

YOU ARE INVITED...
