Volunteering Helps Keep My Son's Dad Alive!

November 29, 2018

I grew up during the Vietnam era when many of our friends and family were confused about what was happening in the world. We did our best to push forward and many people close to us were involved in the Vietnam War. My son’s dad, Steve Miller, served and came home a different man. He passed away 12 years ago from Vietnam War complications. My son and I are both VFW Post 1534 Auxiliary Members, and I volunteer to help Post 1534 within our Community. The Post is staffed by volunteers and offers food to the public in their newly renovated dining room. The food is great. The people are wonderful. Each time I walk through the front door I feel Steve’s presence stronger than any other place. I volunteer to help keep my son’s dad alive and to help keep Post 1534 open to do what they do best… help Veterans.

Helping All Veterans

There are many vets of my generation – VietNam – that don’t know where to turn as to the benefits they’ve earned. The VFW offers these men and women the direction they need. Two exceptionally helpful gentlemen here locally is in Palm Springs is Clinton Hollins along with Congressman Dr Raul Ruiz. The VFW can give you contact information for both.
